The engraved rocks and rock paintings left by Amerindians present in French Guiana several thousand ago provide rich illustration of their thought, rites, myths, and daily life. This work offers a descriptive inventory of about fifteen sites of rock art in French Guiana, a study of the techniques used, and possible interpretations for a better understanding of what is, after all, a universal phenomenon.
